Mercer has about an 80% acceptance rateFeb 23 2013Other
Mercer has about an 80% acceptance rate. However, this doesn't mean the school is easy to get in to. Most applicants are incredibly bright and although you may get in, you will need to get a scholarship to pay for the nearly $50,000 school cost. There are many scholarships including the prestigious, all-inclusive Stamps Scholarship which is awarded to 10 incoming students each year. Be very involved in high school, take an abundance of AP classes, and make sure you score above a 1950 on the SAT if you want to be taken seriously in scholarship competitions. The school itself is incredibly difficult and the classwork is rigorous. Just because you get in doesn't mean you can handle the intensity!

I applied, and it was my top pick after I didn't get enough financial aid from Emory. For incoming students, make sure you know what you really want to study, if you're just some undecided person, don't waste your time. This school has a horrible retention rate (about 25% of incoming freshmen don't come back) so make sure they're offering a good program for your area of study. And most importantly, take your work very seriously, like I said this isn't some public party school you can just drink and cruise your way through. If you're a hard worker and want to stand out in the job market (we have a hell of an alumni network from what I hear) this is the place to be.

Get good grades...simple as that. Take AP courses.

Make sure you stay locked in at night- don't venture out!
And make sure you can afford it without aid because you likely won't keep it all 4 years. Very expensive.

To get in to this so-called "university", you only have to do a few things: be able to speak and allow yourself to be run over, especially regarding your financial aid. That's it! You're in!
