Essay (3) | Chemical Engineering | Nov 24 2012 | I thought I was not going to get in because of average SAT scores (except on math) but when i got to campus i wasn't as behind as I thought. I did a LOT of extracurriculars my freshman year and had a 4.0 when I applied as a transfer and still got wait listed. It's competitive, so make sure you're writing in the application is unique and says something about your character and why you are up the challenge. Electrical Engineering | Jan 31 2012 | I applied from a community college with a 4.0 GPA and was accepted no problem. Computer Engineering
| Dec 31 2011 | Admissions is a numbers game. For everyone: WRITE YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT!!! Anybody who I know who got waitlisted/rejected did not write a personal statement. It doesnt have to be a piece of Shakespearean literature, just something that shows you want to go to the school. For non-engineering/design: break the average SAT, average GPA, and be a part of two school clubs and you are in. For engineering majors: Apply "Engineering Undecided". By selecting a major on your application, you are competing with others FOR THAT MAJOR. By applying undecided you get increased chances of acceptance with absolutely no negative consequences. The way the Engineering College works is that all freshman are considered to be "unmatriculated" (ie- unaffiliated with a major) regardless of what they put on their application. When you are accepted, you are accepted to "NCSU College of Engineering". Based on your performance in your first two semesters, you are given the ability to "matriculate" (apply to a certain major) and if you have above a 3.25 you pretty much are guaranteed any major you want. For Design majors: SPEND MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES ON YOUR PORTFOLIO. You dont have to be Dali, you just have to show creativity and originality of thought. Good luck! |
