NC State wasJan 22 2017English
NC State was actually my second choice behind another in-state school I did not get into. Now that I go to State, it feels like home and never in a million years would I want to go to another school. I took challenging courses in high school, 10 APs, and did fairly well on my SAT. I also was involved in several extra curricular and ended up in the top 8% of graduating class so I felt for sure I would get into NC State. Though it is getting even more competitive to get accepted into I think if you do well in high school and have competitive test scores and class ranking then you should be on the right track.

It isn't that difficult to get into NC State,Aug 31 2014Business - Management and Administration
It isn't that difficult to get into NC State, but it seems to be more so for out-of-state students. I took several AP courses and had good scores on those exams, receiving credit for AP Calculus, AP Eng Lit and Lang, and AP Biology, and I finished in the top 10% of my class in Fairfax, Va, but I I only had an 1880 on the SAT (I'm just not a strong standardized test taker). I did not get into UNC or UVA, which were my first choices, but it all worked out as UNC admitted me to their MBA program, and I love it here. I would suggest if you are a small-town NC kid, NCSU is a wonderful school and is very open to admitting you. Most of my suite mates were mediocre students from small NC towns or transfers from community colleges, so I would say unless you are trying to get in the Engineering school, just maintain a decent GPA and a reasonable SAT/ACT and you will definitely get into State.
I had a goodJan 22 2014Communications
I had a good SAT score and good grades. I got in to the University Scholars program. I teach high school now, and I see that it is harder and harder each year to get in. So my advice is to keep your grades up and prepare for the SAT and ACT. In reality, extra curriculars and recommendations letters and all of that aren't worth all that much. It's all about the numbers for pretty much all schools. They want to know that you will be successful in their institution, and grades and test scores are what shows that.

Have good a good GPA and do some extra curricular activities to create a balanced outlook. Then you need a decent SAT score to get accepted. It's not very difficult to get accepted.
