Essay (14) |
| | I didn't have the most stellar academic record (9th grade was abysmal, 10th grade was a bit better, 11th grade was good, and 12th was great). I spent a LOT of time on my essay to make sure it was great, especially since I was applying as an English major. I also had a TON of extra curriculars, which I'm sure helped.
One thing I did which I think helped was to get recommendations from a wide range of teachers. I got one from an English teacher who had me for years and really liked me and one from a math teacher. (That made a bit more sense because at the time I was thinking of minoring in math.)
I guess my best advise would be to have a great and unique essay. It gives you personality and makes you stand out.
The same as any other school - good test scores, good grades, extracurriculars, good essays.
I finished my essay the day before it was due.

However, you don't have to be smart. don't worry if you lucked out in high school and you're a total idiot. it happens a lot here.
