You have to do activities that everyone else atAug 20 2005Communications
You have to do activities that everyone else at your high school hasnt done. With thousands of kids applying to the university, they look for that one thing that makes you stand out. Believe me, a high score on the SAT's wont carry you through. You need to have that little something extra. I went to do community service in Fiji, and wrote my college essay on that experience. I believe that is what got me into the colleges I applied to.
SAT: 1270 Female
I got into medill--best journalism school in the countryJul 05 2005Journalism
I got into medill--best journalism school in the country. I was obsessed with looking good on paper-woo! yeah! Medill is a verifiable 3rd grade, at a higher level of course. Youll spend many hours pontificating grammer and spelling.
SAT: 1560 Female
Umm I filled out the applicationJul 01 2005Civil Engineering
Umm I filled out the application. And sent it in. On time. My friend who goes here messed up his application 3 times. So I guess you don't even have to get that right...
SAT: 1410 Female
I transferred from another college my junior yearJun 09 2005Economics
I transferred from another college my junior year. I did poorly in high school, but was lucky in that I did very well on my SATs and very well in my first college. I was extremely involved (SGA, President of several clubs, etc.) and I definitely think this helped me get into NU.

I would reccomend doing well on the SAT's (1400+ is practically a requirement) and be in the top 10 percent for your high school
SAT: 1550 Male

I did well on the SAT, the SAT IIJun 02 2005Communications
I did well on the SAT, the SAT II (with 700+ scores) and took the ACT. I also took the most challenging courses in high school, took foreign language to the point of operational fluency; played a musical instrument; and did sports (not excellent, but an average non-varsity player); newspaper -- overall, well-rounded high school with academic rigor.
