If you really want to get in, make sure you write an extremely good essay, do lots of volunteer work/community service, and maybe hold a job or two. Also have a high GPA and SAT/ACT scores. NYU looks at everything. School clubs/sports didn't seem to matter as much as everything else.

Named best female in NYC public schools in my sport
outside of school extracurriculars include: dance classes (avg of 4 hrs a week) and piano and tennis lessons every weekend.
-- make sure that all of your acitivites are continuous and not just sparatic, changing each semester. I have held my outside of school activites for the past 10 yrs. Schools want to see Dedication.
