New York University - How to Get into Undergraduate NYU
</a>
I took a class in creative writing at Columbia and had my professor over the summer look over my portfolio of Dramatic Writing over the summer before I applied in the fall. My suggestion is if you're applying to Tisch and you know some one very knowledgable in the area you want to study have them look over what you're going to use to get in. Also a word of advice from an admission counselor, don't be afraid to perform something or include something that you would be afraid to show your parents. As for grades you can not expect a good portfolio to make up for lacking grades. Equal emphasis is based on both so make you're strong artistically and academically.
They are pretty critical. You have have decent grades and SATS... it is however, much easier to get in as a transfer as they love extra bodies as long as you are somewhat intelligent.
I think you pretty much need high grades and perfection if you're Asian. But if you're black or white, they lower the standards to cater for you. It pisses me off.
be diverse and learn to stand out. If you just mention about grades and test scores, then you're just telling them the things that they've heard plenty of times before.
