I came from a private catholic highschool that was extreemly competitive. I knew in comparision to the over-achiever's at my HS that I needed to have something else to bring to the table so I also concentrated on extra-cirriculars and community service. By no means did I have poor grades, I made the honor roll which is very important and had great recommendations from my teachers but being that I suck at math and was a year behind in it, I knew I had to offer other things to make the school want me. My advise would be to make sure you get a face-to-face interview and work on your interviewing skills. Check online before you go and notice the clubs and societies on campus and mention which you anticipate joining! Good Luck... and if you get involved you'll love it as much as I do, 'cuz every school has it's downfalls but I wouldn't trade this one in for anything.
