RISD is very selective (around 35% acceptance rate)Oct 07 2010Interior Design
RISD is very selective (around 35% acceptance rate). if you wanna get in, expect to hand in a good portfolio (technique wise and creativity wise). Also take AP classes it will pay off, as RISD accepts AP credits. Take lots of art classes in HS (i took 3 AP art classes and get good SAT scores- yes risd considers sat scores. Also, i highly suggest you take the summer classes offered at RISD for Highschoolers- it will give u a good preview of ur college life here. I wish I did, I def. would not have chosen to come here if only i knew earlier...

Focus on your portfolioDec 03 2009Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
Focus on your portfolio. I was surprised that I got in, but I spent a lot of time on my portfolio and I spent 1 weekend on my 3 home drawings. Don't worry too much about the drawings, but spend time on your portfolio and show a lot of diversity. Also, care about your grades. They matter! Don't just have academic still life drawings, show what you like to do.
ACT: 29 Female
The application is tough, however it is SO worthOct 03 2009Undecided
I was a transfer, its an Amazing schoolSep 26 2009Art & Design Department
I was a transfer, its an Amazing school. however if you are into the fine arts go to MICA, their painting department is far superior to RISD's

I'm changing to illustration as soon as I can.

Professors are not that accessible in my limited experience here
