If you decide to go to RIT, go and visit. Talk to students, not to the administration. Meet with your future department head, and interview with him; you not only will have a better chance of being accepted, but you also will have a better understanding of how your next 4-5 years will be.

Show that you want to go the extra mile in your major. The tech majors have all had interships or jobs in their fields, and the art majors have all taken classes outside of school. Know your feild well and know why RIT will help you. Even though there is no interview, showing that you really want to go there will be evident in your application.

I had to present a portfolio and have an interview in addition to the normal application process. If you honestly want to attend this school, make a good presentation of yourself and your work. Let RIT know that you have the financial means to attend the school (they do enjoy their money), as well as dedication to your coursework.

Be yourself, offer everything, and treat any interview as a random person you just met rather than someone deciding your future.
