I went to PreCollege and they pretty much toldNov 07 2007Art & Design Department
I went to PreCollege and they pretty much told us that all precollege students were guaranteed to get in. I even got a letter saying that I wouldn't need to send in my portfolio. I don't think the school is very selective, so just make sure you meet the grade/test requirements and don't send in work from photographs/anime/celebrities/etc.
ACT: 33 SAT: 2000 Female
I had a healthy portfolio filled with figure drawings,Sep 05 2007Other
I had a healthy portfolio filled with figure drawings, drawings from life, motion sketches, and a few other things thrown in from prior art classes so I could transfer credit from my community college to Ringling. I got in as a Sophomore, which is pretty nice since Ringling doesn't usually allow transfers. Their curriculums often start students in on their major the second year instead of the third like at other universities, making transferring harder.

Ringling also likes good grades.

If your a computer Animation student or want toAug 07 2007Art & Design Department
If your a computer Animation student or want to be, I would recommend start getting used to all types of art. theres a couple books out there about 3d animation.
To get in for Fine Arts, pretty much followMay 08 2006Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
To get in for Fine Arts, pretty much follow what they tell you to in their book/catelog.. Do a lot of direct observation drawings, especially of people. Try working in color a lot because I went to national portfolio day in minneapolis and got a lot of positive comments on my use of color, so do things like that they can note. I recommend having your portfolio reviewed by either a rep. from ringling or a college near you if you are worried.
I sent slides of my work in the mailApr 12 2006Design Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc
I sent slides of my work in the mail. You either have to have a lot of talent to get in, or a lot of money...they take either.
