In the past SCAD was relatively easy to get into. That is changing, the undergrad acceptance percentage went from 69 to 58% in one year. check it out your self at the college board website. ?collegeId=3346&profileId=1

Just apply, honestly SCAD will give you a chance and it's once you get here that the hard work starts and that's why everyone takes foundations first because it shows who really deserves and wants to be here. Those who are just here to be here drop out fairly quickly.

Filled out an application and entered a portfolio including sketches.

Get a good portfolio together and get some solid letters of recomendation from the teachers that taught classes in your major. SCAD doesn't pay close attention to grades or SAT scores they are more interested in talent and if your high school was prestigious. Seriously I know kids here that went to good private schools and got 2.0 GPAs and 1000 and lower SATs and still got in because of their portfolio.

All I did what create the best protfolio I could, which are not required. SCAD's admission's reps will help you every step of the way!

There is NO problem with earning acceptance to the College. This is what NEEDS to be change--> Low quality students are being accepted, and are 'babied' through out the education process (thus holding quality students down).

The entry may have become tougher but it seems as long as your able to get the loans your accepted.

When I was looking at SCAD I took art classes in high school and was pretty determined on majoring in Architecture. I submitted a portfolio and would highly recommend it if you are interested in scholarship opportunities. They are not required for admission though. This is helpful if you're from a school with a small art department and little portfolio preparation. Every year, it gets harder to get into SCAD. The school is becoming known for it’s excellence. Some students do get into the school who probably aren’t as motivated as others, but they quickly get weeded out. In order to succeed, you need to put in the effort.
