You may have heard it is easy to get in. Of course it is, they only want your money. Try to get as much financial aid from them BEFORE you attend (around 20k is nice). You can resubmit portfolios as many times as you need to, and take the ACT and get a 33 if you can. If money isn't a problem, then SCAD will love you.

I applied, sent in the (OPTIONAL!??!??!?!?) portfolio, and I was admitted. The fact that no portfolio is needed to get in is a sign of the expectations that SCAD has. You don't need to try hard to get in.

if you get accepted submit and portfolio or research paper even if it is not very strong. i sent in a research paper that i would have been embarassed to give to a teacher and i got $15,000 a year in scholarship money.

I wouldn't let my own child go to school here and will probably end up having to get a lawyer to resolve any other issues.

Admission is all a matter of getting the money together. ANYBODY can show up at this school, from passionate minds who've never picked up a pencil to egotistical artistic geniuses, and you're going to meet alot of people in between those extremes. Good self-discipline is the most important part of success at SCAD, getting your work done takes alot of time and don't expect to come to this school and have a swinging social life. If you can stand long lonely hours slaving over projects and occational small get-togethers with friends, you just might make it in this college.
SAT: 1580 Male

Almost nothing. You dont even need to send in a portfolio, which should be something of a warning sign.
SAT: 1170 Female
