I was really surprised I got in. My grades in high school weren't great. My SAT scores were really high, I wrote a great essay, and I got three solid recommendations from art teachers who knew me well.
You have to submit an application with an essay, but thats not the big part. Focus on your portfolio- if your slides don't come out looking great do them again. Presentation is everything, besides if they represent the best of your work you're very likely to get a scholarship or two from the school.
