Varsity sport for 2 years, JV 1 year, playingNov 27 2008Undecided
Varsity sport for 2 years, JV 1 year, playing in college.
Decent grades at a competitive high school.
Active in annual drama productions.
Displayed an intense interest in a certain academic field and wrote my essay about it.

I think as long as you exemplify all the qualities they are looking for, you can get in, although admissions just get tougher every year. Peruse the website and you'll see what they look for in their students and what their students enjoy doing, then tailor your application/essay towards their ideal.
ACT: 29 Female

Be passionate about what you doAug 15 2008Biology
Be passionate about what you do. Don't be good at everything or be well-rounded - excel in one or two things. Be an exciting person with goals and a fresh perspective.
SAT: 2100 Female
I sent in my application pretty early (November) andFeb 05 2008Sociology
I sent in my application pretty early (November) and checked some random box on the application about applying for university scholarships. Because of both those things, I was awarded a half-tuition merit based scholarship and they flew me down to check the place out in February. Moral of the story: Turn in your application early and keep an eye out for scholarship stuff on the application!
SAT: 1470 Female
Have good SAT's or ACT'sJul 11 2006Political Science
Have good SAT's or ACT's. Don't do the common app for Scripps. Fill out their own application. It has some great features including a list of the last 10 books you have read. In my opinion the most important part is your personal statement, make sure you make it unique to display something really great about yourself. It also helps to visit and have an interview with the admissions staff. Trust me they will remember you when analyzing your application.
Scripps has become very popular in the past few years so early decision really helps in getting in since we are a small college.
I applied in an unusual wayJul 03 2005Biology
I applied in an unusual way...I mix and matched my application, using some parts from the common app and others from the Scripps application. Essentially, I used the CommonApp, and then threw in a couple of pages from the Scripps app that I liked. And the essay.

I recommend applying early so you are eligible to get the James E. Scripps scholarship. The deadline is in early, early November. If you are a finalist, Scripps will fly you down for a visit in February that is really a lot of fun, if you can try to hold your competitive nature down.
