I was just a solid high school student, activeSep 28 2005Political Science
I was just a solid high school student, active in my local community. I won a few statewide awards, made it pretty far in a math competition, but I didn't cure any diseases or spend any significant amount of time building schools in Africa. Whatever you do, focus! Try everything out early, and then find a passion and show you're really into it. If you join an organization, be the president. If you're on a team, do both high school and club sports. Just be the best at whatever you like to do.

have strong academics, a strong portfolion (in my case), do extra cirriculars like non-stop, take extra classes (like art, music, etc), and enjoy the whole process. :)

Applied early, worked hard in high school, played 2 sports. Honestly though, admissions are random, some people are vastly underqualified though they are few and far between. more important than academics is having an "interesting" story, b/c they want to minimize the study rats. Unfortunately, the school is still replete with 80hr per week studiers and grade-grubbers.
Students from non-magnet public schools are at a huge disadvantage even if they do get in. You simply won't be prepared for the level of work.
SAT: 1530 Male
Be passionate about something - the admissions office reallyFeb 09 2005PreMed and Medical
Be passionate about something - the admissions office really looks for people who are passionate, lead interesting lives, and have an innate thirst for knowledge. Don't pile up a laundry list of extra curriculars, or take the SAT so many times it's a hobby - just find a medium you're interested in and pursue it.
SAT: 1440 Female
