I worked hard on my personal statement and did a lot of extra curricular activities. It's better to show that you care about the world and society in your essays. I feel like they would like to have students who have broader perspectives.

Admissions at Soka really takes a holistic approach when it comes to considering students for admittance. Extracurriculars are a must, specifically community service, volunteer work, and other activities that might create value in your own community. And, of course, academic performance is important. SAT/ACT scores, GPA, writing abilities, and English proficiency are all super important factors in the academic aspect of your application. Finally, leadership abilities are also pretty important. Your ability to become a leader in your field of research or work is taken into consideration here, as our school looks to create such leaders to go out into the world and make positive change.

I had to write two essays, sit for the SATS, send my high school transcripts and a list of extra-curricular activities.

My GPA in high school was 3.8, SAT: 1820, 3 letters of recommendations. If you want to apply to Soka, GPA should be higher than 3.6, SAT higher than 1600, preferably higher than 1800, and at least 2 letters of recommendation.
