I was no over achiever in high school but I was no dumbass either. You don't have to be a stellar student or a saint to get in. Just be yourself in the statement part of the application and get descent grades. Binghamton is a service to New York State citizens to get a good education so it wants to include as many qualified students as possible.
I got decent grades and wrote a creative essay (supposedly they look at the essay more than other qualifications). Most people here are lazy smart people or hardworking less smart people.
