Getting in to New Paltz is easy so long as you keep your grades up throughout high school, preferably a B+ or higher. Each incoming class is more competitive than the next. Considering the economy, this will likely continue since many students are choosing cheaper state schools over over-priced private schools. Just a note on that, your Bachelor's really isn't that important, consider spending the money on your master's and PhD. Study hard for the SAT or ACT and take AP's.

Highlight something unique about yourself or something that you are truly passionate about. New Paltz is all about creativity, diversity, and academics. Even though NP is a state school it is quite selective, accepting only 34% of its applicants in 2009. Make sure your grades are decent as well as standardized test scores, and try to fill up a resume of extracurriculars.
