Essay (7) |
| | I did not have a terribly high HS GPA or SAT scores (~3.0 // ~1800), but I had stand-out extracurricular activities (varisty athlete, orchestra, community service, peer mentor) and very high Regents exam scores. New Paltz looks for "well-rounded" students with creativity and potential. Essays were optional, which was very peculiar. My SAT verbal was in the top 1% of the applicant pool, so I was accepted in a matter of weeks.
I think about 15000 people applied for my freshman class and 1,000 actually came. Write a good essay and show them how you're different and stand out. If you think you can play a sport, come and spend a night as a recruit, youll make good contacts. Dont be intimidated, the sports teams here are pretty easy to get on.
