Use the general SUNY application to apply here. If you're a really good student, try going for the Presidential Scholarship (an essay, some questions, and an interview in the final stage) and your tuition is covered. If you have decent grades, general entry is a given.

Understand that all of high school is academically and organizationally important. Take a prep course for the college admission exams you take. And don't just apply. Find out who the Admissions Director is and send that person a letter. If you wnat to major in music, send them a CD of your piano playing or whatever you do. Ask for a campus visit. The more interested you are in them, the more they are in you. But if you are really serious about getting an advanced degree after undergraduate school, or getting a high paying or powerful job, don't go to Plattsburgh. Go to a good, private college like Colgate, or RPI or Skidmore. They will give you a springboard to success.

Once you fill out the SUNY application, Plattsburgh will either send you an acceptance letter immediately, or send an additional application. The additional one if for any student that may qualify for a scholarship, and any student that is border-line for getting in. For that application, there's an essay - nothing bad - and I turrned in a list of high school activities/work/community service with that. They were impressed and gave me a scholarship.

I definitely reccommend a visit. It really is a beautful campus. Weird art outside, and there are only a couple buildings that are really old and arcitectually great, but the campus does rest in the mountains, it's on the Saranac River, and Lake Champlain is less than two miles from campus.
