Just make above 1300 on theJun 15 2005Mechanical Engineering
Just make above 1300 on the SAT, visit the university, be on the top 10% of your graduating class and write some good essays and you shouldnt have too much trouble getting in.

A&M is a very competitive university to get intoMay 27 2005Psychology
A&M is a very competitive university to get into. Unless you are in the top 10%, you better have something else to make yourself standout. In other words, if you have mediocre grades you need to have a really good SAT score. A&M wants students who are well rounded. Other ways to make yourself stand out is to be very involved in school clubs. Maybe even try to do volunteer work outside of school. For example, somewhere like Big Brothers Big Sisters. I did BBBS my senior year and loved it. Also, it isn't too demanding. You just spend an hour each week mentoring a child that was assigned to you. Another thing you might can do is get a part time job, even if it is only 10-15 hours a week. Then, the admissions counselor will be like this person has decent grades, a great SAT score, very involved in school activities, did community service, and they had a part time job...WOW! GOOD LUCK!
Lots of extracurricularFeb 20 2005Biology
Lots of extracurricular activities and good standardized test scores might make up for a low high school class rank or gpa.

Advice is pertinent to International students. Do well on TOEFL & SAT. Trade school grads may be able to transfer credits. Use online applications for convenience. Very important, once you get your acceptance letter, do not be afraid to call up and bug people who are handling your
I-20 and other documents.(be polite about it though.) Don't be sloppy, get strait to the point & make sure you have the name of every person you talk to. (be sure to give credit where credit is due. i.e. letters of appreciation.)

Be in the top 10% or score over a 1500 on your SAT's. I did both. If you don't do either make really good grades, be very involved in SOMETHING (but not EVERYTHING), and write a very good essay.
