I transferred from North Central Texas College (a crappy school). But if you are still in HS looking to go to Tech, just get good grades, do your homework, and if you can, challenge yourself. SAT/ACT scores aren't taken into a large amount of consideration, but do them anyway. If you are a good student in HS, you'll do well here. If you aren't so good, work on your study skills. As with any college experience, be prepared to cut out a good part of your social life you plan to do well and graduate within the amount of time your major prescribes.

Getting in to Tech is a piece of cakeAug 25 2008Architecture
Getting in to Tech is a piece of cake. All you need are average scores on the SAT or ACT (under average will probably do too), actually write the essays, and you're pretty much set. But if you want a word of advice, if you're applying to colleges now, I would rethink the Tech route and apply to a more worthwhile school.

I was a National Merit Commended ScholarDec 12 2007Civil Engineering
I was a National Merit Commended Scholar. I was accepted within a couple weeks of sending my application. There are some excellent merit scholarships available based on your SAT score. If you score over 1400, you will receive $2000 a semester as long as you keep your GPA above 3.5. Other merit scholarships are available for lower and higher SAT scores, too.
SAT: 1410 Male
I would recommend students to go visit the TechOct 30 2007Unknown
I would recommend students to go visit the Tech campus. I am from the Houston area and had heard a lot of mixed comments about Tech, so I decided to make the trip to Lubbock. Tech campus is beautiful, they have a good Medical school and a Law school and have a number of good selection of courses to offer. But if you are from Dallas metroplex, Houston or Austin area (which most of the students are) get ready to drive long and get your parents to apply for a Southwest airline credit card, these come in handy when travelling home quickly.
