APPLY EARLY! like in september. if you apply super early they will give you decision in about 2 weeks and its much easier to get in the earlier you apply. Also, you need good SATS and some community service. SHOW INTEREST IN THE SCHOOL. the "optional" essay on why you want to go here might as well be required because it could make or break you.

I had a relatively low GPA (3.45) and a good score of 1940 on my SAT. I think what got me in was a well-written essay and a lot of extra-curriculars. I played multiple sports and was 3 sport captain, newspaper, volunteer, played instrument, all that. I also sent in an art portfolio since I did art, which I think really helped me. Try and show Tulane that you are more than grades; they'll really appreciate that.

Good grades, GREAT essays. Also, don't let money be a factor. If Tulane gives you a scholarship, but it's not enough, talk to them. They're usually good about finding more for you, especially if you have leverage (i.e. another high-ranked southern school offering you more. Particularly Emory or Vandy).
