Play a sport (TU waives physical education requirement for a varsity high school athlete), take 2 years of a foriegn language (again, TU will waive their foreign language course requirement if you do this), and break 1300 on the SAT.

I did nothing special. I came from a private high school with ok grades and an average resume. If you have an SAT above 1300, I would worry about getting in.

Write a great essay!!!!! High test scores are good, but not everything. Extra-curriculars help, especially if you have leadership. It is better to get a B in an AP class than an A in a regular class--they want to see that you challenge yourself.

I entered with a drama scholarship in 1968 even though I did not major in drama. The drama department under Paul Baker was something of a regional joke that had the rest of the country laughing, and the school saw itself as the "Princeton of the South," which it certainly was not. It was a rich kid's play school. Now, however, the school has certainly improved and with a reputation it better deserves. Had I to do it over, I would have gone to my graduate school, Columbia University, as an undergraduate as the department was more what I wanted. I was accepted to Trinity with the usual recommendations, SAT's, and the rest. I did nothing special.

The key to getting in is mainly in getting real good grades to prove your dedication to learning. Also, they seem to like leadership roles so show that you can be an independent thinker. It's not hard to get in as long as you show you want to.

Score high on your SAT and if it isn't your first choice don't let them lure you in with a merit scholarship or promises of gridiron glory because you'll regret it.

Their academic requirements seem to be getting steeper than when I started, which I think is great. Most students were in top quarter of class/average 1300-1310 on old SAT scale, had some extracurricular. I actually didn't really think of this school as a viable choice until I was accepted and visited the campus. I would definitely recommend an overnight stay before you decide.
