The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign - How to Get into Undergraduate UIUC
</a> | Forward me! | |
UIUC says: "The
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers more than 150 degree
programs in the eight undergraduate colleges that are open to
freshmen. Each college admits students on a competitive basis. When
you apply to the University, you must apply to one
of the colleges. You must also choose a curriculum or
major. Admission to all of the colleges at the University
is selective. The University is fortunate to receive applications from
outstanding high school seniors each year, and more than half
of the entering freshmen come from the top 10 per
cent of their high school classes. Due to the demand
for space in all programs, there is rarely an opportunity
to be considered for a second choice. " | | Students who got into UIUC say: | |
Tips mention:
Interview (1),
ACT/SAT (55),
Grades (20),
Sports (13),
Essay (19) | Join clubs/sports/etc early on in life. Civil Engineering | Jul 27 2011 | Get straight A's. If you dont, be good at sports and/or other actvities. Civil Engineering | Mar 20 2011 | ACT is not everything. Give yourself plenty of time with the essays. If you can, try to talk about an experience with a job, a sport, or an extracurricular in your essay. Apply before the priority deadline so that you have time to make other plans in case something doesn't go your way. I may have some benefits of affirmative action, but even minority students who come here have a lot to offer. My only down fall was my ACT scores (I had a 19). Everything else looked pretty good though. I had a 3.73 GPA, ranked #5 or 6 in my class, and was involved in almost everything at my high school from student council, all types of sports, etc. Most minorities that I know had similar situations to mine. So I'd say get ur GPA up as high as u can, get involved in everything, and try your best on the ACT. If your a minority student and that's ur only issue I wouldn't worry about it. As far as the others I'd just say work hard, get involved, and stay at the top of your class. |
