UM says:
"UM does not have any 'minimum' requirements for admission.  We consider every student's application individually and make decisions accordingly.  However, once students fall below an 1160-1340 SAT or 26-30 ACT, and/or below an unweighted 3.0 GPA it can be very problematic for students.  Last year for the Fall 2003 entering freshman class-all students had been in the top 50% of their high school class, 62% had been in the top 10%, the middle 50% of students had between an 1160-1340 SAT or 26-30 ACT, and had an average weighted GPA of 4.0.  "

not too difficult to get in....suggest meeting with admissions office for an informal interview and if they come to your local area go and talk to them....get to know the admissions officer from ur area. I went to anything umiami in my area and when I went for an interview he remembered my name....definetly helped me

I applied using Early Decision. I included an essay, two recommendations, my ACT & SAT scores, and samples of written work. I never had a physical interview, but I was interviewed over the phone.
