| | Played a sport, did community service, was on my student government, and did dance. A little bit of everything and i graduated with a 3.67
I took most advanced and AP classes. Received a 5 and two 4s on my AP exams. I had above average SAT scores, played two varsity sports, was president of my National Honor Society, graduated in top 4% of my class. Ending GPA was 3.9

To get in, I just described who I was and what i did. I was very motivated in highschool and had an exceptionally high GPA and was very involved in sports and music and honor societies so i could've gotten into anywhere.. Just try and make yourself seem really good. You need atleast a 3.5 in highschool or else you probably wont get in. As someone who was accepted last year (2010), I can tell you that only the top 60 kids in my class of 300 got into Umass, (meaning the top 60 all had GPA's of about 3.5) then rest were waitlisted or declined.
