i have a 3.8 GPA and a 34 ACT and i got my letter 3 weeks after i sent it all in for the class of 2010.
But i know kids who got it last year with a 3.7 and a 27
one thing to remember is UM grading system where A+'s, A's, and A-'s all count as 4.0 and B+'s, B's, and B-'s all count as 3.0, etc you should definitely think of that when you're wondering which classes to spend more time on in high school.

I went to MSU for two years then transferred to UofM.
My recommendation to high school students is be in the top 10% of your class. My recommendation to transfer students is keep in very close contact with the admissions office about making sure they recieved all of your application parts and about getting transfer credit. It takes a lot work to get you classes to transfer over, so make sure you find out right away what you have to do, and don't put it off. You don't want to be having to take care of this after you've already left the school you're transferring from.

Michigan is getting harder and herder to get into. You need good grades and great test scores, especially if you're from out of state. Worry about those most as opposed to extracurricular activities.

Participate in many extra-curricular activities, maintain at least 3.4 or higher grade point average, and have a good essay, does'nt have to be flawless.

I worked very very hard in high school, and was accepted after being wait-listed with a 3.7 GPA, a 31 ACT, a great essay, and a fair amount of EC activities. It is very hard to get in, I had friends with 4.0's that were team captains that didn't get in. Work hard in high school and study hard for your ACT/SAT's, take them many times.

Just don't even try, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
