Tips mention:
Interview (0),
ACT/SAT (60),
Grades (31),
Sports (6),
Essay (34) | I may not have been the brightest in regards to grades and exam scores, but I was diverse in my extra curricular activities. I played many varsity sports, volunteer work and also a job. Michigan wants to see what you can contribute, not just academically, but socially. I first went to a community college for 2 years then transferred to kinesiology-sports management. In high school, I had a 2.5 gps and a 23 on my ACT.. I was accepted to western, central and Oakland and denied to state but I always knew umich was my school (been a umich fan my whole life and my father went there). I got motivation in community college and earned a 3.5 gpa. Happiest day of my life was getting that email. GO BLUE

| Dec 19 2009 | I transferred from a community college. I don't recommend going this route. It may be cheaper, but you're not going to be prepared for UofM's method. When I transferred, I had a 3.7 gpa, I was an officer in a math and physics club, honor society, worked as a tutor, and I'm a military veteran. Others that transferred had similar backgrounds minus the military. So coming out to high school: 3.8gpa, sport or academic club, charity work, and something that shows that you've been in a leadership position. Business - Management and Administration
| Dec 26 2008 | Be well rounded. While my grades and SATs were above average, I was only ranked 13th in my class. However, I played three seasons of sports, was in clubs, and held a job. |
