Mechanical Engineering | May 10 2008 | I was probably a slightly higher than average with 1400 SAT (old scale). But, Michigan is not a school that's concerned with SAT scores, they care a lot more about your curriculum and high school GPA, class rankings, and your personal talents. Furthermore, Michigan doesn't superscore your SAT, meaning they don't mix and match the highest verbal and math scores. Try to pursue what you love and maintain a 3.7+ GPA with a solid balance of AP/IB classes.
My SAT score was above 2000. Try to get above a 600 in every section of the SAT. Have at least a 3.7 GPA in high school. If you're in a few extracurriculars and have taken a few AP classes you should get in no problem. I actually used University of Michigan as my safety...so I got into the honors college 2.5 weeks after I applied in the fall. I had a 2230 SAT, 4.0 GPA, leadership positions and awards and stuff (no sports, however). I was out of state, so when I told people that it was my safety, THEY GOT MAD!!! After more research, I found my former arrogance to be invalid. This a great university with amazing resources. I suggest you work hard in high school, do well on your sat's, especially since it's getting harder and harder to get into... |
