Engineering Department
| Jul 19 2008 | First off, take your SAT, ACT, and preferably three SAT subjects tests, and score well! And, of course, have a high GPA in high school. Also get your application done early, preferably right after your senior year of high school begins, and definitely no later than Christmas of that year. However, even if you have done all of the preceding and are the super star , you have to realize that there are THOUSANDS of other students all across the country with the same. Make sure you do plenty of extracurricular activities in addition, especially volunteer work. And above all else try to have at least one thing that really separates you from all of the other applicants. For me, as a potential aerospace engineer, it was that I had gotten my pilot's license when I was 17. You just have to do something good that shows you're an active person who gets involved, and is a leader, and isn't afraid to undertake something huge. They want to see that you will really bring something to their campus. Just remember smart people are a dime a dozen. Colleges like the U of M want great people. 3.5 GPA+ 27ACT+ live instate. Why would you ever pay out of state tuition to come here? Go somewhere instate please and support your own local economies. |
