The University of Maine - How to Get into Undergraduate UMO
</a>
its really not hard to get in here.. just get mediocre grades and test scores.. but a lot of people who are a lot more qualified have not been chosen while others who are under the bar have gotten in.. they have changed their style of admission choosing in the past couple years (rumor has it) so its kind of sporadic choosing...but in all just be an average student and youll do find if anything youll just not get into the major you want and theyll throw you into the undecided pile so you can "prove yourself".. but you can follow along and still take the classes that people in your major do.. and next semester you can apply to transfer into your major
Definitely get involved at your high school---grades are NOT everything! Colleges like to see that you are active around your community! Do some community service, join a club or a sport and stick to it throughout high school. Make sure you get good letters of recommendation from teachers who really know you and try to have a unique essay. Colleges review thousands of applications, so you want to write something that will stand out to the admissions faculty. If you can get an interview that is a great way for admissions to get to know you and for you to ask more personal questions about the campus! SAT scores are not everything--try your best, but good grades and an active resume will hold more weight!
