Essay (5) |
| | I had a GPA of around 3.6 and an SAT score of 1690. One of the most important things in an application is usually the essay, so find someone who can read it and correct mistakes.
I researched schools extensively using all sorts of sites including this one. I wrote probably five different college essays before I found a good one, which was about playing music with my band back home. Other than that, I got the app in on time and was prompt with email responses. For the honors program, I spoke through email and on the phone with the honors head, Dr. Blake Hobby, for about a half hour, and was proactive in getting the app and essay in pretty promptly. He was then, thankfully, prompt with letting me in.

| Nov 27 2009 | Just apply with an essay and such; SAT scores are not that demanding, about average. I don't know if I would have gotten in if I had applied regular decision..My grades were not so hot my sophomore year, my GPA was like a 3.3 unweighted, and my SATs were on the average side. I wrote a really killer essay and my list of activities was really detailed.
Don't freak out if it takes a while to get your acceptance letter. Mine came on the day they said we would be notified by. And for the record, it'll be a big envelope. :)
