I researched schools extensively using all sorts of sites including this one. I wrote probably five different college essays before I found a good one, which was about playing music with my band back home. Other than that, I got the app in on time and was prompt with email responses. For the honors program, I spoke through email and on the phone with the honors head, Dr. Blake Hobby, for about a half hour, and was proactive in getting the app and essay in pretty promptly. He was then, thankfully, prompt with letting me in. Just apply with an essay and such; SAT scores are not that demanding, about average. I don't know if I would have gotten in if I had applied regular decision..My grades were not so hot my sophomore year, my GPA was like a 3.3 unweighted, and my SATs were on the average side. I wrote a really killer essay and my list of activities was really detailed.
Don't freak out if it takes a while to get your acceptance letter. Mine came on the day they said we would be notified by. And for the record, it'll be a big envelope. :) |
