In high school I got almost all A's and my test scores were very good, but not amazing. Out-of-state admission is very competitive, but that shouldn't discourage you from applying. I have met out-of-state students that did significantly better than me, but also some that did significantly worse than me in high school. I am the daughter of a UNC alumni, but unless admissions is deciding between you and one other person who is not a legacy, family ties have no bearing on whether you get in out-of-state. Make good grades, do well on SAT, be well rounded ect. No one thing is gonna get you in since it's more of a holistic admissions process. AP courses, SAT prep, Went to summer school for three years to pack in more courses than the average applicant. The work study program was a big help with the finances. National merit, great test scores, good grades and EC's |
