It's not difficult. Seriously. The better you do though, the better chance you'll get of getting a scholarship. As an out of state student, the work I did in high school paid off and allowed me to pay less to go out of state than to the flag ship state university of Illinois, where I'm from.
Applied... that's it... you'll have no problem getting in regardless of who you are. If worried, write the admission chair a letter explaing who you are and where you come from and why you want to start off positively... they will read it.
