If you are a serious student wanting to go to grad school apply early to the Honors College. It is not easy to get in but it is worth it. Although UTSA lets many students in only 40% graduate in 6 years. That is also true at the U of Houston. UT and A & M graduate about 62%. Think about that. It is no wonder we have the highest college drop out rate among 18-25 year olds in US history and this does not include the huge increase in HS drop outs, amost 40% across the board (50% Black, 52% Hispanic, 28% Caucasian).

Everybody is accepted before they apply. Even you!

Filled out the Texas Common App (online), paid my application fee, and waited. I had a decent SAT score, and didn't need to write any essays. Apply for the Honors College WELL in advance if you want in - it's also a stellar program.

I messed around all throughout highschool and graduated with a 2.5 GPA (1200 SAT) and was promptly accepted to UTSA. I cringe to hear about someone rejected from UTSA.

It is pretty easy to get in here. I volunteered at a hospital, and did a lot of extra curricular activities. I wanted to go out of state , but it was too much so i went here. I know some kids that made a 2.7 in HS and still got in.

Apply, pay your dues on time, and you've made it.

The school has historically offered very relaxed admission standards, but recently has raised these standards. Keep up your GPA and score well on the SAT/ACT or you may be required to attend a community college before being admitted.

The school has historically accepted all applicants, but has raised admission standards annually for the past 2 school years. Students with lower ACT/SAT scores are no longer accepted as the school attempts to raised graduation rates. The school plans to continue with tighter admission standards as it moves towards tier 1 status.
