to get in, I suggest you take the same classes in high school as the ones to get into the University of California system ()
this will assure you a good place in the admission bracket as well getting above a 1150 (old fashioned SATs, I think now it would be about an 1800 new SATs if my math serves me correctly) will be helpful in proving your stuff. as well, unlike the California State University system and to a lesser extent, the University of California system, they judge on individual merit and how much you are willing to stick through stuff.

sure, it is helpful to be the president of every club, but it is more helpful to be the kid who was an active member in something for a long time (worked at the local book store for 3 years in a row all year, or track team for 4, etc.)

and if you can help it, avoid empty summers, take a part time job, or a class, something to show that you are not willing to let your mind slip away.

These are of course not required, but helpful hints if you are in the possition to make the move.

now, if you are like I was, a bit of a slacker in highschool , I will tell you, it is a bit harder to get in, and you have a lot of make up, but it isn't impossible to get in. just remember to work hard and try to join something to make you a better person, not something just for the sake of getting in (it seems they can smell that a mile away). if anything, they love the comeback kid story where you show that you are learning and gathering momentum and growing as a person and student.

for me, it was mock trial and video production (of which they have a mock trial team at University of Redlands)which I enjoyed completely and did for my own edification, not to get into college.

Do like your parents told you, and be yourself and work as hard as you can.

I just applied and had an interview. I would recomend and interview because it gives admission a face to an application and if your application goes to the board then they will be able to put a face to the application and it might help.

Interview, being out of state, something original or unusual on your application that you've done. B's/A's and extra cariculars and you'll pribably get in.

I didn't do much. I had a 3.5 gpa in high school and a 1300 SAT, with some APs and college classes under my belt. I took a campus tour and did some research online, both of which I'd highly recommend to any HS seniors considering this, or any other, college. 4 years is a long time, but it's over in a flash.

Getting an interview scheduled makes a big difference. Not only will you get a much better feel for the school and get your questions answered, but it means a lot for the admissions counsellors to be able to put a face to your application. Doing a day visit or an overnight also shows that you're interested and will give you a flavor of the social and academic life of campus (although don't expect to go to any parties - thats against policy)

I'm in Johnston so i'm partial, but having the center as a part of Redlands improves the entire school, not just the educational experience of those involved in the center. Johnston is one of those programs that is impossible to really understand unless you're part of it so its easy to be mis-informed, but if you are a self-motivated learner, if the thought of traditional institutions leave a bad taste in your mouth, and if you place a high importance on being involved in the community you surround yourself with then Johnston is probably a good place to check out. Johnston forces its students to craft and take responsibility for their entire undergraduate education so expect to do a lot of work and thinking - luckily we don't have course pre-requisites so at least the extra work you're doing is in areas you're dedicated to and motivated by! And you'd better love buffalos if you want to thrive in Johnston - its more than just a mascot to us! I work in admissions, so i've had to learn volumes about the school; feel free to email me with any questions or concerns!

I think Redlands was extremely easy to get into, I would compare it to applying to a state school.

I had good scores, and I'd say most of all get to know the place before you get in, it's not terribly ethnically diverse so thats a plus, and there really good about financial aid

I know people who applied in the summer and were still accepted. if you have a gpa above 3.0, sat above 1200 you are a "shoe-in"
