Essay (4) | They want out of state students because they have so many in state students. So do decent on SATs and be from out of state and you're golden.  I received a 3.67 cumulative GPA at a high-performing high school in Rhode Island. I was involved in hospital volunteering for 4 summers throughout high school working in patient care, which looked strong for a nursing student. I also was involved in extracurricular activities, including cross country, dance, tennis, piano, and other activities. While my SAT scores were not my strongest point, I received a 580 on critical reading, a 570 on math, and a 550 in writing. I did not take the ACT or SAT 2 exams. Lastly, I selected college- bound classes, and one honors class. I did not take any AP courses, but recommend taking AP courses for General Education or other required courses for your major. I completed Calculus, college- bound English Classes, Spanish 4 (an honors course), an abundance of science courses including Physics, Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, Forensics, and Physical Science; Lastly I took all required history courses, including Government and college-level Economics which I was able to get credit for. This was my safety school. C average in high school will get you in, have a OK SAT/ACT score and show that you did something else during high school (job, volunteer, anything really doesn't have to be amazing). If you want centennial scholarship then have good grades, sat, and extra curricular.
It really doesn't take much. Except Pharmacy major requirements are a bit tougher. I had a 3.2 GPA overall from high school. I sent in my application regular admissions and got in a couple of weeks later. |
