PLAY A VARSITY SPORT. Being the chunky JROTC dork in high school will not help, and you'll only be a monumental dork when you do arrive.

Your Congressman.... start talking to his office now.

Keep the grades up... it is not an easy school to get admitted to, especially if you are out of high school. Treat it like an Ivy league school, academically.

Drink beer, party and carouse during your senior year in high school... I can assure you that you will not be able to your Freshman year at USNA. Just don't get caught!

If you are a straight-A varsity athlete, you are a classic candidate and an easy shoo-in. If you're not, like I was, you'll have to jump through some hoops . . . if you have a true desire, someone will see that and you'll get in eventually.

Start application process at beginning of junior year in H.S. Need nomination from a congress person. Take on leadership roles (highly valued), and stay involved with extracurricular activities (a big plus for admissions), and be able to handl multiple tasks...and be in at least top 80% of H.S. class academically.
