The University of Texas Austin - How to Get into Undergraduate UTAu
</a>
I was in top 10%, but I also took as many AP courses as I could every year and made the best grades I could. I also was very involved with sports and volunteer work. I suggest applying early!!! I applied on the last day possible and it made me so nervous waiting. And check your essays for errors ten or even 20 times, it's just seems ike yoou care if it's all right.
I did a lot of the classic stuff that you do to achieve recognition plus did a few key things to differentiate myself. You have to find your interests and take them new heights for yourself in order to really get noticed. Sports are nice, but unless you're going to do them in college, schools don't really care that much unless you have an extended leadership position.
To give you some sort of an idea, here's my list of stuff:
National Honors Society
Student Council Senior Representative (there were 21 of us)
Cross Country co-captain
Drug Knot mentor- 2 years
Varsity Cross Country- 4 years
Varsity Track- 3 years
Mu Alpha Theta (math honors society)
volunteering
AP Scholar Award
National Merit Commended Scholar
AP English II Award
AP U.S. History Award
Most Improved Runner Award
Cross Country District Champions
Summer Programme at St. Hugh's College, Oxford University
(wrote papers on Jane Austen novels)
Wrote an article in the paper that was read before Congress in a political speech.
