The admissions department seems to be open minded at times. The essay is where its at - paint yourself as an individual. Talk about experiences that make you unique. I think that is what counts most with small private school admissions.
I applied the summer before school started. As in three months before Fall semester. Get decent grades and not idiot-like SAT scores and you'll be fine.
I had relatively high test scores and a strong GPA (3.5 unweighted), you do need to have some brains to get in here because the focus is on academics. Good luck!
