Essay (0) | Engineering Department | May 03 2012 | I went to a particularly rigorous private high school, I was on 3 varsity sports teams (rowing, volleyball, cross country), I was president of The Environmental Club and on Student Government as treasurer. Although my SAT scores were very good, my GPA was a 3.1 due to a very bad freshman year. I had a core class (math english science history) grade average of 86%. As advisement to those trying to get in, don't be deterred if you have a bad GPA. If you can balance it out with above average test scores, you will be fine. And vice versa. It's pretty easy to get in here, its a State university. Apply and you shall receive. Getting into your program of choice will be harder than getting into the college. If you have good grades in high school and take a hard course load your senior year, you might luck out and get directly admitted into your program so you don't have to worry about whether you'll get in or not. If you have good test scores and grades, you will probably be accepted. I don't recall even submitting a list of my extra-curricular activities and work experiences for admission, just for scholarships. |
