| | When I originally applied, I was not focused on my UM application, since my family and I were under the misconception that it should be my "safety" school. Instead, I was focused on my Brown application. In the end, with an acceptance from both, I realized that Miami was more the place for me. However, I had exceptional numbers and resume. I have a 4.3 GPA (I'm the definition of an over-achiever) decent ACT (29), and enough extra-curriculars to kill someone. Plus, my teacher recommendations ( I sent in many more than needed) where mind-blowing. Therefore, my advice to getting in is not very good, however I know that every year UM is getting tougher and tougher. Plus, it is not cheap. My school costs $40,000, which can give many parents a heart-attach. Therefore, if you think you will have trouble financialy, definitly think about whether or not you want to apply. I recomment it, because of financial aid and scholarhsips, but scholarships can be difficult. If you can breathe, and live in state, you will most likely get in. Basically, get about a 18 on your ACT.
The school likes students who are actively involved in their communities--not just their schools.
