I sent this email to the chancellor.Quite BrightPreLaw and Legal
I sent this email to the chancellor... it should explain. We are just a $ sign at this school.. The only good faculty are the teachers...Hey, why is it that we are building all of these huge expensive buildings when there is absolutely no parking on campus? It costs hundreds of dollars for a parking pass to ONE lot, and a DOLLAR for an hour of metered parking? I spend 20 minutes driving around looking for meters everyday? The town of Amherst doesn't even charge a dollar per hour.. Most universities have free parking, or at least way cheaper passes that can be used almost anywhere on campus. This school is so money hungry. Not to mention, the tickets are totally expensive. I appealed a ticket that I got for parking in a wide open staff lot for 5 minutes, telling them that I couldn't afford it, and I got a cold replying stating that they don't care.. AND we pay $700 for one meal a day PER SEMESTER. I wish I had known all of this beforehand, because I would never have chosen this place. I'll do everything in my power to infer people.

Umass Amherst is a for profit school.Quite BrightPreLaw and Legal
Umass Amherst is a for profit school. They do not value you as a student, they only see you as a source of revenue. The financial aid is some of the worst in the state. It would literally cost less money to go to Harvard. I am an in-state student paying 80% of the full cost of attendance. The administration spends hundreds of millions of dollars on useless construction (exclusive dorms, sidewalk construction, a SIXTH science building) but when it comes time to divvy up the financial aid they can't find the funds. Most classes are so crowded the profession will never learn your name or you need to use a clicker (at your own expense) to take attendance. Go here if you are eligible for fed aid, if not avoid at all costs.

The major problem is the lack of intellectualQuite BrightPreLaw and Legal
The major problem is the lack of intellectual diversity: there is only one possible viewpoint--the far left. Thus, much of my time was wasted listening to propaganda.

U Mass is a large university, with all the advantages and disadvantages that implies. As with all large schools, you can find your nitch eventually.Personally, I liked the Amherst area.
