Is a degree in Nursing right for me?

If you work well with others, pay attention to details, are compassionate, take pride in a leadership role, are patient, confident, you remain calm in the moment, have great communication skills, can work long hours and be flexible with day or night shifts you have the personality traits of a nurse.

Individuals who choose a career in nursing can expect to take college courses in anatomy, nutrition, physiology social and behavioral sciences, math, chemistry, biology and the humanities. You will be required to also complete an internship where you are supervised and get the full clinical experiences

Nursing school studies can be anywhere from two years to become a registered nurse to six and eight years to become neonatal nurses,family practitioners,legal nurse consultants or clinical researches. The longer you continue your nursing studies and progress towards your masters in nursing science or PhD in nursing you will find yourself moving towards a specific area of nursing and away from just a general registered nurse.

According to the occupational employment and wage statistics report released by the bureau of labor statistics in may 2013, the median average annual salary for a registered nurse was $69k/year. Industries who are hiring registered nurses at the highest levels include general medical and surgical hospitals, physicians offices, nursing facilities, outpatient care centers, and home health care services.

The average salary for a nurse anesthetists is$ 158k/year, nurse practitioners bring home on average $95k/year, nurse midwife's bring home $92k/year on average,
