67.181.180.57:invalid:Malicious Intent/Faked, :As a person born and raised in SLO, I know what I'm talking about: The high rental rates aren't due to "Old People (tm)," they're a result of living in a highly desirable coastal area where the housing market averages at roughly 800,000. I do not understand how people can expect a city where a nice house costs between 700,000 and 1.1 million to offer 300/month rentals. The idea is stupid and absurd. Furthermore, while I'm sure people do move to San Luis to retire, it's mostly a family town. It is selfish of students to assume an entire city of families should cater to the desires of college students.

The administration here is absolutely horrible.

I really want to like this school, but the administration makes it just about impossible; there's so many horror stories about the administration here it's just not cool.

The city is ok - some people really like it, others hate it. The problem with the city is that it's a really bad mix of college students and old people. A lot of people come here to retire, which doesn't mix very well with the college life attitude of the students. Since about 90% of the students live off campus, this causes lots of problems.

Speaking of which, housing here is really tight. They hardly have enough dorm housing to hold all the freshmen here. Off campus housing is horrible, since the Old People of San Luis Obispo(tm) have shot down any major housing projects in this city since the late 80's. So when you -do- find off campus housing, it's extremely expensive; around $600+ for a single person in a 3 person apartment.
