(please excuse the cheesy catch phrase) I run track, and after I met coach Mann, I knew this place was for me. But forgetting track, I was attracted to the Catholic Jesuit influence. I feel comfortable knowing that the true motivations of this school, for the most part, are in the beliefs of the Jesuits and not that of those looking to get the most cash out of suckers they call students. Ok, enough of the touchy feely stuff. The campus is gorgeous and small. A Catholic university smack dab in the middle of a Jewish community…I feel safe. There are about 7 different masses to go to between 2 churches and a chapel in MY dorm hall. The biology professors are very bright, well rounded, very knowledgeable, and are highly accessable. One thing I find in common amongst many JCU students is that they seem to have this overwhelming desire to grow as people. Although most of the students will probably never admit this, I think they find comfort in the Jesuit influence. Unfortunately, there are students who attend JCU because their parents "made them" go there. This place is definately not for them. If you are looking for a drunken haze Thursday through Saturday, look elsewhere. This place is not party friendly by any means. I find that fact appealing, but JCU has been known to frustrate those who are looking to live the wild life. The food is ok I guess…I won't complain. That's it. I hope I have informed you. Have a great day! |
