SMU's intellectual standard takes a second seat to its hierarchal social standard. The kids here are by and large close-minded, southern baptist private school yuppies who are so politically apathetic the only right they are aware they have is their right to wear ridiculous golfing attire to class. The greek system here is embarrassingly popular, and there are more President's offspring attending SMU then you can shake a Louis Vuitton bag at. The teachers either don't speak English or hate the curriculum as much as you do. They have grown bitter due to the student's general lack of interest in anything that is not alcohol or Lacoste polos. This place has nice amenities, so much so that you may find yourself wondering if you are attending a country club or a college. The faculty is very nice, however, and the campus is easy to get around, even in the 3 inch heels alot of the girls trod about it. So if you enjoy a bubble from reality and a campus so conservative liberals are prodded with sticks to see if they are real, you might find SMU is your home away from home. |
