I kind of blundered into Queens, after having flunked out of an engineering college my freshman year. I slipped into music, since music had long been my hobby and was therefore the path of least resistance. The school was local and allowed me to live at home and be a baby for several more years, something I needed. Instruction was simply amazing. From my major (music) through all other subjects, I had brilliant, devoted teachers. I was accepted to some great grad schools. I was extremely well prepared for graduate study because of the advice that I had been given by several professors. The facilities in the 70s were pretty shabby, but overall adequate for my needs. I visited the campus about two years ago, and although there are fewer trees to sit under and babewatch from, the facilities have much improved. Finally, let no one forget the man who wrote the college's motto (Discimus ut serviamus), the great Professor Konrad Gries. Requiescat in pace! |
